Chef Naoko is pleased to announce that construction work has just begun on the renovation and expansion of the Jefferson Street restaurant. The architecture is by world renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma whose stadium design was recently chosen for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and is also the creator of the beautiful Portland Japanese Garden “Cultural Crossing” expansion project. Kengo Kuma & Associates are working with local architect Lorraine Guthrie who has extensive experience with restaurant and hospitality projects in Portland, as well as in Japan, and with General Contractor Steve Kem who will be responsible for implementation of this unique design tailored especially for Chef Naoko.
Chef Naoko restaurant will remain open during construction in the adjacent unit except for minor interruptions to be announced later. The new restaurant will provide 50 seats of space as well as two kitchens. One kitchen will be dedicated just to catering which will obviate the need to close the restaurant when we have large catering orders.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our beautiful new restaurant which will open in September. More details will be announced shortly before opening.
